NMPWD

SSH itself works fine. Repeating host names, ports and passwords all day is the annoying part.

Less repetition. Still OpenSSH.

NMPWD adds a host book, memorable aliases, context-aware Tab completion and authentication assistance to the macOS Terminal workflow. It does not replace the commands you already know.

Save the connection once. Use the short name with ssh, scp, sftp or rsync.

In everyday use

The useful parts stay close to the terminal.

  • Organize destinations under names you can remember
  • Complete known hosts while entering common OpenSSH commands
  • Keep passwords in macOS Keychain or a supported password manager
  • Approve secure filling with Mac authentication where supported
  • Continue using normal terminal and editor-terminal sessions

For systems you are allowed to access.

NMPWD is designed for your own machines and servers, or systems you are authorized to administer. It is a convenience layer for a legitimate SSH workflow, not a way around access controls.
